Insta360 Luna Ultra

Released in June 2026, the Insta360 Luna Ultra is a compact dual-lens gimbal camera co-engineered with Leica for creators and small crews who want high-resolution video, stabilized movement and flexible focal lengths in one portable system. Its main Leica Summicron lens uses a 1-inch sensor and records up to 8K 30p, while a dedicated telephoto camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor and F2.0 aperture extends the shooting range without adding a separate lens or camera body. This makes the Luna Ultra particularly useful for travel films, branded content, social campaigns, interviews and fast-moving productions where a lightweight stabilized camera can replace a more complex rig.

Dual Leica cameras, 8K and professional color

The main camera records 8K video at up to 30 fps and supports Dolby Vision as well as 10-bit I-Log for more flexible grading. Insta360 specifies up to 14 stops of dynamic range with the main imaging system, while PureVideo uses AI-assisted processing to improve low-light footage at up to 4K 60p. The telephoto module provides a 60mm-equivalent perspective with up to 6× lossless zoom and additional digital reach, making it useful for portraits, details and compressed perspectives that would be difficult to achieve with a typical compact gimbal camera.

For still photography, UltraPhoto reaches 37MP, while the Scenic Panorama mode can create images up to 200MP. Three-axis mechanical stabilization works together with electronic stabilization, and Deep Track 5.0 supports subject tracking, active zoom tracking, group tracking and smart framing.

Detachable OLED screen and compact production workflow

One of the most distinctive features is the detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen. It can be removed from the camera and used for remote HD monitoring and control from up to 20 metres away, which is useful for self-operated shots, low or high camera positions and situations where the operator cannot stand directly behind the gimbal.

The camera includes 47GB of internal storage and currently supports compatible microSD cards up to 2TB. Its built-in 1550mAh battery can provide up to four hours of recording in Endurance Mode under Insta360’s laboratory conditions, while fast charging reaches around 80% in 23 minutes.
