The Sony ZV-E10 II is a lightweight, easy-to-use camera that came out in July 2024. It is a great choice if you are looking for affordable gear that still delivers really good image quality. It is perfect for vlogs, event coverage and travel videos, and just as handy for filming a school play or a family celebration. Its biggest advantages are its low weight, a low rental price and the fact that the kit already includes the E PZ 16-50mm power zoom lens.
26MP sensor and 10-bit 4K
The camera uses a 26MP back-illuminated APS-C sensor, the same as in the Sony A6700, together with the BIONZ XR processor. It records 4K up to 30 fps from the full sensor width, oversampled from 5.6K, for highly detailed footage. 4K at 60 fps comes with a slight 1.1x crop, and Full HD up to 120 fps gives you smooth slow motion. You can record 10-bit 4:2:2 in XAVC S, XAVC HS and All-Intra XAVC S-I. For grading there is S-Log3, and for quick turnaround without grading the S-Cinetone profile, familiar from Sony’s Cinema Line cameras.
Features for creators
Autofocus has 759 phase-detection points and tracks the faces and eyes of people and animals, while focus breathing compensation reduces framing shifts when you rack focus. The Cinematic Vlog setting gives you a filmic 2.35:1 frame at 24 fps at the press of a button. The vari-angle touchscreen makes self-recording easy, and the interface supports vertical shooting. On top sits a three-capsule directional mic. You also get a mic input, headphone output, micro HDMI and USB-C, which lets you live stream or use the camera as a webcam.
E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS II lens
The kit lens weighs just 107 g and covers a full-frame equivalent of 24–75 mm, from a wide vlogging frame to a portrait-friendly medium shot. The power zoom gives you smooth, even zooms while recording, and the linear AF motor is fast and quiet. Optical SteadyShot works together with the camera’s electronic Active mode. Minimum focus distance is 25 cm at the wide end, and the 40.5 mm filter thread lets you add a light ND or diffusion filter.
What’s new compared with the Sony ZV-E10?
- – A 26MP sensor instead of 24MP and faster readout, so noticeably less rolling shutter.
- – 4K 30p from the full sensor width (previously a 1.23x crop) and a new 4K 60p mode.
- – 10-bit 4:2:2 recording instead of 8-bit, plus the S-Cinetone profile.
- – NP-FZ100 battery instead of NP-FW50: around 195 min of continuous recording instead of around 125 min.
- – A UHS-II SD card slot
- – New Cinematic Vlog setting.
