The SmallRig Shoulder Rig Kit Pro [4274B] turns a cinema camera or a heavily rigged-up mirrorless body into a stable shoulder rig for handheld work. The weight sits on your shoulder instead of your wrists, and two front handles give you a secure grip and smooth control over framing. It is a solid choice for documentary, run-and-gun, interviews, events, behind-the-scenes and any shoot where you need to move fast and stay on the camera for long takes.

VCT-14 shoulder pad

At the core of the kit is the Shoulder Pad Pro, made of aluminium alloy and silicone. Underneath there is a built-in quick-release base compatible with the Sony VCT-14 system, so you can move the camera from shoulder to a tripod fitted with a VCT-14 plate in seconds. On top, a two-layer Manfrotto 501-style plate slides forward by around 80 mm. That lets you dial in the centre of gravity so the camera doesn’t pull you forward or backward.

15mm rods and room to build

The pad has front and rear clamps for standard 15mm rods at 60 mm spacing (LWS). The front clamp adjusts vertically by 24 mm, which makes it easy to line up a follow focus and a matte box with the lens axis. On the rear rods you can add a V-mount battery plate, which doubles as a counterweight. There are M6 ARRI rosettes on both sides of the pad and an extra 1/4″-20 thread on the right, for example for a magic arm and monitor.

Two silicone-wrapped handles attach to the rig via SmallRig 1870 extension arms with ARRI rosettes. You can set the angle of each handle independently, and the arms extend and lock, so you can match the grip width to your build and to the camera. The full kit weighs about 1.44 kg and is made of aluminium alloy, stainless steel and silicone. A flat wrench is stored in the pad, so quick adjustments on set don’t mean hunting for tools.
