GoPro 13

Released in September 2024, the GoPro HERO13 Black is a rugged action camera designed for sports, travel, POV footage, vehicle rigs and productions that need a compact camera in places where a larger cinema body would be impractical. It keeps the tall 8:7 sensor format and HyperSmooth platform of the HERO12 generation, while adding Burst Slo-Mo, GPS, faster Wi-Fi 6, magnetic mounting and automatic support for GoPro’s HB-Series lens accessories.

5.3K60, Burst Slo-Mo and 10-bit workflows

The camera records up to 5.3K 60p and 4K 120p for high-resolution action and slow motion. HERO13 Black also introduces Burst Slo-Mo, including 720p at up to 400 fps for 15 real-time seconds, 900p at 360 fps for 15 seconds and 5.3K at 120 fps for shorter high-resolution bursts. The tall 8:7 sensor makes it easier to reframe one take for horizontal, vertical or square delivery.

For color work, the camera supports 10-bit recording and HLG HDR, while HyperSmooth 6.0 provides strong electronic stabilization for handheld, helmet and vehicle shots. The HB-Series ecosystem adds automatically detected options such as Ultra Wide, Macro, ND filters and anamorphic shooting, expanding the camera beyond a conventional fixed-lens action workflow.

Waterproof body, flexible mounting and upgraded batteries

The body is waterproof to 10 metres without an additional housing. Built-in folding fingers, a standard 1/4-20 thread and compatibility with GoPro’s magnetic latch system give crews several ways to move between helmets, suction mounts, tripods, clamps and custom rigs.

Our rental package uses three newer 2150mAh GoPro Enduro 2 batteries, which GoPro currently lists as a compatible runtime upgrade for HERO13 Black, together with the Dual Battery Charger for Enduro 2. Two 128GB microSD cards provide practical media rotation, while the USB power adapter, USB-C to USB-A cable, microSD-to-SD adapter and carrying case support charging, offloading and transport between locations.
