DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro

Introduced in September 2024, the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro is a compact action camera designed for sports, travel, POV footage, vehicle work and productions that need a durable camera in places where a conventional cinema body would be impractical. Compared with the Action 4, it keeps the familiar 1/1.3-inch format but introduces a new sensor and 4nm processing platform, substantially longer battery life, brighter OLED displays and new subject-tracking and low-light tools.

4K 120p, 13.5-stop dynamic range and low-light recording

The camera records up to 4K 120p in both 16:9 and 4:3 formats, while Full HD can reach 240 fps for more extreme slow motion. DJI specifies up to 13.5 stops of dynamic range from the next-generation 1/1.3-inch sensor, giving the camera more room to retain highlight and shadow detail in high-contrast outdoor scenes. 10-bit D-Log M and 10-bit HLG provide more flexible color workflows, while SuperNight mode uses dedicated noise-reduction processing for difficult night locations.

RockSteady 3.0 and RockSteady 3.0+ provide electronic stabilization for fast movement, while HorizonSteady can correct horizontal rotation through a full 360° range in compatible modes. A built-in subject-tracking mode can keep a person centered without requiring a mechanical gimbal, which is useful for skiing, cycling, running and self-operated content.

Waterproof body and practical production workflow

The body is waterproof to 20 metres without an additional housing and includes both front and rear high-brightness OLED touchscreens. The camera also provides 47GB of usable built-in storage, which can be valuable as an emergency backup when a memory card fills or is unavailable. DJI’s OsmoAudio system can connect directly to compatible DJI Mic 2 transmitters without a separate receiver, simplifying compact interview, vlog and action setups.

DJI rates maximum operating time at up to approximately 240 minutes when recording 1080p/24fps under controlled laboratory conditions with screens and Wi-Fi off. Actual endurance is shorter at higher resolutions, high frame rates, low temperatures or when displays and wireless functions are used, so this figure should be treated as a maximum rather than a typical 4K recording time.
