BLAZAR Talon 1.5X 35mm T2.1

The BLAZAR Talon 1.5X 35mm T2.1 is a full-frame anamorphic lens with autofocus for Sony E-mount cameras. Blazar announced the Talon series at the end of January 2026, with sales starting in February. According to the manufacturer, these are the first 1.5x anamorphics with autofocus. That means you can get a cinematic widescreen image even when shooting solo, on a gimbal or in fast run-and-gun work, without a focus puller.

The anamorphic look

An anamorphic lens squeezes the image horizontally, and once you desqueeze it in post or in camera you get a wide cinematic frame. With a 1.5x squeeze, a 16:9 sensor gives you around 2.67:1, while a 3:2 sensor or Open Gate mode gives around 2.25:1. On top of that come the signature anamorphic traits: oval bokeh, horizontal flares and a distinctive rendering of depth. Blazar says the Talon delivers a look close to higher-squeeze 1.8x anamorphics. Horizontally, the 35mm gives a field of view similar to a 23mm, making it a versatile, slightly wide focal length.

Autofocus with eye tracking

The Talon works with the Sony AF system, including real-time subject tracking and eye detection. An AF/MF switch on the barrel lets you move to manual focus at any time, and the focus ring has 360° of rotation. The aperture is set manually from T2.1 to T22, and the 16-blade iris gives smooth, round defocus. The lens has no gear rings for a follow focus, as it was designed primarily for autofocus shooting.

A compact full-frame design

The lens covers the full 36 x 24 mm frame, weighs about 675 g and is 118 mm long. The aluminium housing has an 80 mm front diameter and a 77 mm filter thread, so you can screw on a standard ND, variable ND or diffusion filter without a matte box. Minimum focus distance is about 37 cm, allowing tight framing and detail shots. The Talon series also includes 50mm and 75mm focal lengths of similar size.
